FAQ Part 2: Practical tips for nude hiking (Free Hiking)
Following the publication of our previous article, we received a huge number of enthusiastic responses, but also a few very practical, logical questions. After all, what about the sun, insects or a path lined with brambles if you’re not wearing any clothes?
As the leading specialists in free hiking in the Alicante/Valencia region, we at La Vida Soñada are here to dispel all your doubts. The straightforward answer to most questions is simple: it’s actually not that different from hiking whilst fully clothed! We’ve listed the new questions and answers for you below.
- Do you need to apply extra sun cream to your intimate areas?
Yes, but just as you would with the rest of your body! Your intimate areas are, of course, less used to the sun, so a good sun cream with a high SPF (30 or 50) is a must. The secret lies in the timing: apply it all over before your walk, so the cream has time to soak in properly before you put on your rucksack and start sweating. During the walk, simply reapply it at the usual, logical intervals. So there’s nothing to worry about.
- What about mosquitoes, ticks and other insects when you’re naked?
It’s often thought that insects love naked walkers, but the opposite is actually true. Mosquitoes and horseflies are strongly attracted to the smell of stale sweat that lingers in clothing. When you walk naked, your sweat can evaporate directly and quickly into the air rather than being absorbed by your clothes. As a result, you smell much less strongly of sweat to insects than when you’re dressed, so they’re simply less likely to be attracted to you! The basic approach remains the same as for a regular walk: to be on the safe side, use a good insect repellent and you can set off undisturbed.
- What do you do if you come across a section that’s difficult to navigate, such as bramble bushes?
During our guided walks, we select routes in such a way that we avoid these kinds of rough, overgrown paths almost entirely. We know the region inside out and know exactly which paths are comfortable and safe for free hiking. In the unlikely event that there is a section with thistles or brambles on the path, the solution is simple: always carry a pair of light shorts or a wrap-around cloth in or on your rucksack. You can quickly slip them on for those few hundred meters, and then happily take them off again afterwards.
- But why is naked hiking so much fun? What’s the real difference compared to hiking in clothes?
Hiking in clothes is lovely, but nude hiking is a sensory revelation. The biggest difference lies in the intense connection with the elements. You feel the wind across your entire body, the gentle Spanish sun on your skin, and you experience an unprecedented sense of physical freedom. There are no constricting belts, chafing seams or clammy shirts.
But the real secret is mental: as soon as the clothes come off, all social status, pretense and insecurity fall away too. It’s pure relaxation, a deep respect for nature and a massive boost to your self-confidence. You feel lighter, both literally and figuratively.
Do you dare to take the plunge?
At La Vida Soñada, we create a 100% safe, respectful and trusting environment in which you can discover and experience free hiking in complete peace of mind. Under our experienced guidance, all you have to do is enjoy yourself.
